The winners of the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership (OWLP) Snap the Ouse Photography Competition have been announced.
The winner of the adult prize was Simon Stirrup from Aldreth for his beautiful shot of a majestic Barn Owl, taken on the Ouse Washes near Welney.
The winner of the children’s prize was eight-year-old Manea Community Primary School pupil Ewan Hannam. His shot depicts a duck’s nest in a pond at WWT Welney.
They won a basket of Ouse Washes themed presents including a bird nesting box, novels by Francis Pryor and Victor Watson, a poetry book by Fen Speak’s Elaine Ewart, biodiversity jigsaw puzzles and bug safari kits.
Sara Marshall, countryside engagement and marketing officer at the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership, said: “A big thank you to everyone who entered our Snap the Ouse Photography Competition.
“It’s been fascinating to see the Ouse Washes Landscape through the eyes of the people who live in and visit the area, and who have captured what it means to them.
“Well done to Simon and Ewan, it was a real pleasure to meet them at the OuseFest Mepal Fun Day and present them with their prizes.”
The 12 shortlisted photographs were exhibited at several OuseFest events including the Mepal Fun Day and OuseFest at Denver Sluice. All entrants can be viewed at www.ousewashes.org.uk/resources/galleries
