A man is being treated in hospital for severe injuries after reportedly making “an error of judgement” while skydiving.
An investigation is under way after Saturday’s accident at Sibson Aerodrome, near Peterborough.
Magpas Air Ambulance attended and found the man, who is in his 30s, was suffering serious head, leg and arm injuries.
He was flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where his condition on arrival was serious but stable.
No further details of his health have been released.
Chief operating officer at the British Parachute Association, Tony Butler, believed the skydiver may have made a miscalculation on landing.
He said: “He was using a high-performance parachute and all the equipment was working as it should. He is a very experienced parachutist who may have made an error of judgement on landing.”
Mr Butler said the unnamed parachutist was due to undergo surgery today (Monday).
In September 2012, a parachutist was killed in an accident at the aerodrome after he collided with another skydiver midair and fell to the ground.
