A centre for adults with learning disabilities is celebrating after it was made charity of the year by a March supermarket.
Every year Sainsbury’s chooses a local charity to donate their fund raising to and this year they picked FACET.
Kris Harrold, manager of the Marwick Road centre, said: “I am thrilled to begin our new partnership with Sainsburys. It really shows how dedicated to the local community they are as a company.
“FACET is really developing and expanding at the moment in terms of new and exciting ways to enable our students flourish, so having partners like Sainsbury’s on board with our way of thinking is a huge compliment to all involved with the us as a charity.”
FACET students joined the launch to help get involved with bag packing at Sainsbury’s.
Mr Harrold said they are encouraged to learn in a way which suits their individual needs and at their own pace. Some students progress to doing voluntary work or work experience placements, whilst others use the centre to help boost their self-confidence.
Sainsbury’s spokesman Michelle Connolly said: “It’s going to be a fun packed exciting year. At the launch students had fun, they enjoyed themselves and for me that’s what it’s about making someone smile.”
