Ten young entrepreneurs – between the ages of 14 and 19- are being offered the chance to make a name for themselves …..with a £10 note.
That’s our Fenland Big Weekender Challenge launched today as we look to find 10 youngsters – who can bring in up to two friends each- to run a charity stall.
Thanks to businessman and entrepreneur Bruce Smith of George Scarborough Ltd of March – who has provided the £100 ‘seed’ cash and will help with the judging- the one day challenge will take place on July 16.
Each individual – or team- can collect the £10 and we want to see how much money they can raise on the day.
We’ll provide the stall – inside our covered marquee at the Oliver Cromwell Hotel- and we’ll help with marketing.
What we want Fenland youngsters to do is to create a stall using just £10.
You can, for instance, make items for sale, you can bake cakes, run a bric a brac stall, in fact anything that can be sourced within the £10 and turned into a profit.
All 10 stalls will be raising money, too, for a great cause - Little Miracles. All profits – and of course the original £10- will be handed to this great charity that helps others.
It is a charity that supports families that have children with additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions. Just like everyone else these children need a place to play, laugh and create friendships – Little Miracles provides this whilst the families are able to access the advice, support and care that they deserve.
Stallholders will be expected to show a P&L account of their day’s ‘trading’ – that’s a profit and loss mini balance sheet.
The winner, quite simply, will be the youngster or youngsters who raise the most on the day.
For the winner(s) there will be a Fenland Big Weekender Entrepreneur Challenge Trophy and an invitation – for up to three – to the Fenland Enterprise Business Awards (FEBA) later in the year.
There the winner will get the chance to meet with business leaders from across Fenland – and be invited to receive a special additional accolade from FEBA organisers.
IF you want to be one of the 10, then email the editor at john.elworthy@archant.co.uk
Please send us your name, age, school or college (if applicable) and a phone number.
If you have an idea for a stall let us know- but you can enter first and then decide.
Closing date is mid June. Anu queries please call our newsroom on 01354 661915 and ask for the editor.
