The president of March Lions Club is raising money for charity by asking people to donate scarves.

President Ian Groome’s Scarves for Cancer initiative is one of his themes for the year, having lost his mum to cancer.

Ian’s wife Jane said: “It’s in everybody’s life these days. It touches everyone one way or another.

“Ian lost his mum to cancer and my daughter lost her father in law as well.”

Ian, along with his family and other Lions, are collecting scarves, ladies and men’s, in aid of several cancer charities.

“If you want to put a message on your scarf in memory of a loved one or for someone who has beaten cancer, then you can,” said Jane.

“The idea is that they will all go on memory tree eventually.”

The scarves will then be sold at March Christmas Festival on December 4 for £1 and then at March Lions Gala in June 2017.

Scarves can also be dropped off at The Laurels, 102 High Street, March, or for more information ring Ian Groome on 01354 657562.

The money raised will then be split between the various charities.
