Fire crew got a waggy tail welcome when Paddy the dog paid them a special visit to say thank you for saving his life.

The German Shepherd joined his owner Kelly when they dropped in to see the Chatteris and March crews who welcomed the special visitors.

Paddy and Kelly thanked the crews for rescuing him after a fire broke out at their house in Doddington.

The fire started when Paddy accidently jumped up onto the cooker and switched it on when Kelly was out.

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Paddy had a very lucky escape. Always ensure cookers are switched off at the wall and the tops kept clear.”
