Paul Hayward, Doddington hall committee chair said: “We advertised for local talent and were blown away by the response.

Sally Rose, previous director for the annual village hall show said: “There was such a high level of ability to chose from and eventually, like on the best TV shows, we deliberated and decided upon our 12 acts.”

Lesley Kennedy said: “It was a great opportunity for all ages, abilities and levels to experience a professional show with a top level sound system and lighting ”

Not all acts were novices as one had enjoyed success with groups in the 60’s but there were no egos, just competitors who became friends.

It wasn’t easy for the judges, councillor Ruth Hufton, singer with Back Two Sally Rose who is Choir mistress for the March Cant sing choir and Richard Ramsay, a musical comedian and singer songwriter.

It was very close but in first place and winner of £100, was singer and guitarist Jessica Davis, pocket rocket Harriet Silk came second winning £50 and Charlie Kirby third place taking home £25.
