A group that supports adults with learning disabilities has opened in Wisbech to offer a range of classes like art, gardening, cooking, sign language, pottery and life skills.
Helping Hands Group has been running in Peterborough since 2011 and now it has launched for clients in Fenland.
Suzanne Gilby, group director, said: “It is fantastic to finally open the doors and do what we do best, which is assist local families and the community in changing the lives of adults with learning disabilities.”
The new centre is in Algores Way and boasts five large class rooms, a large kitchen, hygiene suite, sensory room and spacious common areas over two floors.
Suzanne said: “Our new focus moving forward will be working on the substantial garden area behind the premises which will eventually be a huge draw for the centre.”
The group works on person centred activities so tailors activities to each person’s needs and requests.
“It has been a long time coming and we throw enormous gratitude towards Tony Fink, owner of Fpp Facades and his amazing team headed by Matthew Laird-Turner, who came in and sorted out the mess and devastation,” Suzanne added.
