Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner Jason Ablewhite has offered Magpas Air Ambulance free storage to help the charity raise funds.

He has offered space at Monks Wood near Huntingdon so Magpas can expand its fundraising activity.

The charity has also been offered 50 pieces of luggage a month from Stansted Airport for its ‘Lost Luggage’ sale. The luggage is security screened and checked for personal belongings and medication, before being handed over to the charity for auction.

The next ‘Lost Luggage’ sales will be held in October and November. The recent May event raised £6,000.

Magpas’ head of community fundraising, Debbie Florence said: “Without the support from local organisations and individuals such as Jason Ablewhite, it would be impossible to host events on such a large scale. It is through their kindness that we can continue to do what we do, and in turn our enhanced medical teams can continue to use their specialist skills and knowledge to not only save lives, but help people with serious injuries or illnesses to return to a good quality of life.”

Mr Ablewhite said: “The work the charity does saves countless lives and it’s hugely important that we do all we can to make sure the service continues.”
