Viva La Voce, a singing workshop designed for adults who may not normally engage in the arts, is coming to Wisbech on September 29.

It will run 12 weekly sessions every Friday and invite those who want to sing for fun to stretch their vocal chords at the Queen Mary Centre.

The workshops will be run by Linda Ekins, a local experience performer, professional singer and vocal coach and Conrad Murray, a well-known beatboxer and founding member of the BAC Beatbox Academy, who have been performing since 2008.

Linda said: “It is so important for adults to have fun expressing themselves through singing and have great opportunities to develop and engage in the Arts.

“I will be thrilled to introduce them to forms of singing they may not have heard before. I feel so excited to see how they will grow as singers, performers and vocal artists and how they will use their new skills to give back and strengthen the community.

“There is no risk involved, everything we do will be surprising, inspiring and something to feel proud of and there will be plenty of laugh out loud moments.

“The workshops are open to anyone who would like to sing but hold themselves back. Perhaps they think they can sing or that others would laugh at them. What most people don’t realise is they can sing.”

During the classes, the participants will learn:

• To blend with other singers

• To use vocal techniques for confidence

• To harmonise and sing in parts

• To sing together in small and large groups

• To use improvised singing techniques which simply means, we make up new music as we go along.

• To do beat-boxing with Conrad for one session

The weekly workshops will culminate with a special public sharing concert on December 16.

Registration is open now. To book your place, contact Linda Ekins at Linda@leada.biz. The cost for the term (12 sessions) is £36 and one-off drop-in sessions are £5.
