All rail lines are blocked between Peterborough and Stevenage after a person was struck by a train this afternoon.
Officers were called to Sandy station in Bedfordshire at approximately 3.20pm today (April 16) and attended alongside paramedics.
They are now working to identify the person and inform their next of kin.
An inquiry is underway into the incident.
Great Northern tweeted: “All lines are blocked between Peterborough and Stevenage due to a person being hit by a train. Emergency services are on site.
“Delays of up to 60 minutes expected.”
A second tweet added: “All lines blocked between Biggleswade and St Neots following a person being hit by a train.
“We’re working with Network Rail and the emergency services to reopen lines as quickly as we can.”
