Goalball players from across Fenland are getting set to represent Team GB at the European Goalball Championship.

Dedicated players have been taking part in training held and supported by the Neale Wade Sports Academy.

Two weekend training camps held over last two months proved to be invaluable to further development of the squad.

Team GB will include members of March-based Fen Tigers alongside players from around the UK.

The tournament in Chorzow, Poland, runs from September 22-30.

There are 10 teams in total (GB, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine, Montenegro, Greece, Israel, Hungary).

Thanks have been given to Jason Wing and Martin Dawson from Neale Wade for their continued support.

Goalball is a Paralympic sport specifically designed for blind and visually impaired people. It’s played by two teams of three with a maximum of three substitutions on each team.

The object is to score a goal by throwing a ball with bells in it along the floor so it crosses the goal line of the opposing team.
