A WISBECH man has been jailed for eight months for a sexual assault on a 13 year-old girl.
Paul Gardner, 42, from Wisbech, committed the offence last year in Kings Lynn, a jury at Norwich Crown Court was told.
During the trial the jury was told that Gardner put his hands up the girl's shorts whilst she was lying on a couch. He also indecently touched her, the court heard.
Prosecutors said the offence came to light after the victim sent a text message to an adult and the matter was then given to the police to investigate.
In mitigation, Gardener's legal team explained that he had no previous convictions for sexual offences.
Gardner, who formerly lived in Whitefriars Terrace, Kings Lynn, was also placed on the sex offenders register for five years.
