SOME sang their hearts out, while others pulled off amazing dance routines. But they all had one thing in common - they proved that Wisbech Has Talent.

A total of 16 acts graced the stage at the Oasis Centre in St Michael's Avenue on Friday, to fight for the title.

There was standing room only in the Oasis, as families and friends packed in to cheer on the youngsters at the third annual contest.

Oasis manager Chris Stevens said: "The competition was fantastic, there were some outstanding performances.

"We wanted people to think that Waterlees is a fantastic place to be, and I think this is evidence as to why. The competition has gone from strength to strength and long may it continue."

The performers had to impress a panel of four judges - PCSO Anne Rose; Ray Wicks of Etcetera; Dan Horn, head of housing and neighbourhood services at Fenland District Council; and Wisbech Standard reporter Tom Jackson.

This year's title went to a seven-year-old girl for her rendition of the song Castle On A Cloud, from the musical Les Miserables.

Lizzie Bryant, a pupil at St Peter's Junior School, also walked away with 15 of shopping vouchers for Etcetera.

Second place went to another singer - 11-year-old Chloe Phillips-Bartlett with When A Merry Maiden Marries, from the Gilbert and Sullivan opera The Gondoliers. She received 10 of Etcetera vouchers.

And dance duo Jordan Baines and Nate White finished in third place, receiving 5 worth of Etcetera vouchers.

Compere for the afternoon was comedian Kevin Venni, a contestant in last year's show. The crowd was also entertained during a short interval by singer Connie House.

But there was a special performance from the staff of the Oasis Centre. Dubbed Old

Spice, they dressed as members of the Oasis Day Centre and danced to the Spice Girls' song Wannabe.
