IF you have a child or children and you receive child benefit, you may be entitled to a few extra pounds' help towards your Council Tax and rent.
A change to the housing and Council Tax benefit rules next month means that Fenland District Council will not take into account any of your child benefit, regardless of how many children you have.
The council can take applications now, ready for when the rules change. A council spokesman said: "You may think this doesn't apply to you - maybe you've never claimed benefits before or have been turned down in the past. We urge you to get in touch and find out. Don't delay - you've got nothing to lose."
If you already receive benefit, the necessary changes to your entitlement will be made automatically and you will be told. To find out if you could qualify, call 01354 654321, email benefits@fenland.gov.uk or visit any one of the council's four Fenland @ your service shops.
