THE Horsefair Shopping Centre is looking the find the heaviest cooking apple in Fenland - and has called on gardeners and growers to battle it out for the gong.
The centre has organised the competition as part of the annual Apple Day in Wisbech on Saturday October 17, and is looking for shoppers and growers to get involved.
Apples will be weighed at the Apple Day stall in the Market Place and the winner will be announced at 1pm. The winner will receive an apple-themed goodie hamper courtesy of the centre's Julian Graves store.
Speaking about the upcoming event, Horsefair manager Kevin Smith said: "Apple Day is always a great celebration in Wisbech and the competition will bring some light-hearted fun for competitive gardeners in the town.
