LAND owned by Cambridgeshire County Council and by a farming family could be used for five extra wind turbines in Fenland.
The application to build the 69 metre high turbines - with an overall height of 110 metres to blade tip- has been submitted to Fenland District Council.
Ecogen Ltd of Cornwall has submitted the application on behalf of the land owners and follows a two year study into the site south of Boardinghouse Farm, Knights End Road, March.
Ecogen's application accepts the development "will by its nature be significant visually" but the company believes they have drawn up proposals which mitigate the affects as far as possible.
The company says as part of its consultation process a public exhibition took place in May at Doddington Methodist Hall but only 15 people turned up.
"Of these four were connected with the project in some way," says their submission to Fenland planners.
"Of the other 11, three were very positive in support of the proposal, two were broadly supportive but did not think both the proposed Boardinghouse and Floods Ferry proposals should be accepted, and five were strongly opposed. One was non committal.
