A 15-year-old rugby player was taken to hospital after collapsing in Wisbech.

The emergency medical charity Magpas were called to Wisbech Rugby Club at Harecroft Road at 1.20pm on Saturday.

The Magpas Medical team was taken rapidly to the scene from their base at RAF Wyton, Huntingdon, by the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity and East of England Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

The teenager suffered severe concussion and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn.

Deborah Florence, spokesperson for Magpas, said "Thanks to the very sophisticated training, Magpas volunteer doctors and paramedics receive and our working partnerships with the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity and East of England Ambulance Service that we are able to deliver such a rapid response in these circumstances.
