FENLAND Councillors have voted, narrowly, to remove all taxis from the Horsefair, Wisbech.
The controversial decision, made this morning, was immediately attacked by Dave Patrick, chairman of the Wisbech Taxi Drivers Association.
"We will lobby the Cabinet of Fenland District Council to get this decision over turned," he said.
The council's licensing committee rejected, again narrowly, an option to retain the status quo on the Horse Fair.
"I am absolutely gutted," said Mr Patrick. "The committee simply hasn't listened to the people of Wisbech. Councillors have ignored the views of their electorate."
Taxi drivers will now be meeting soon to discuss the next moves in their campaign to stay on the Horsefair.
