YOUNG wheeler dealers proved their skills on the stock market.

Marshland High School pupils’ stock rose dramatically when they tripled their money twice over to win a top business competition.

Starting with an initial investment of 15,000, the students racked up a total of 97,000 in the seventh annual Norfolk Schools Stock Market Challenge.

Pupil Scott Goodall said the recreation of the frantic scenes of the stock exchange made for an “amazing day”.

He added: “Our teamwork was brilliant. It has been a lot of fun and very exciting. We are very surprised but pleased we won.”

And maths teacher Lynis Lord added: “It has been a wonderful day for the students. It is the first time we have been in the final and it is fantastic to be going home as the top team.”

Jan Cockburn from The Exchange, the Norfolk education and business organisation which supported the event, said: “This event is great for developing teamwork, using initiative, gaining experience in taking and managing risks and also making snap decisions.”
