Green-fingered College of West Anglia (CWA) students can now grow their own flowers, fruits and vegetables on campus.
The new garden area, which includes a growing tunnel, potting shed and raised plant beds, is designed and built for use by foundation students at Isle campus.
The students, who are learning on one of CWA’s Bridge courses, may have learning difficulties or limited mobility.
In addition to the garden area, new kitchen facilities were opened where students can learn more about becoming independent and cooking for themselves.
Programme manager for foundation studies at the Wisbech campus, Margaret Goman, said: “We are really proud of the wonderful new resources we now have.
“The aim is for the students to use some of the produce to prepare meals in the new kitchen area and to sell the surplus in the college shop to fund some of their own projects and activities.”
The faculty will also be moving into specially designed teaching classrooms within the £5.5m teaching centre opening in September.
