Firefighters from Cambridgeshire and Norfolk tackled a blaze at a condiments factory in Marshland St James, near Wisbech.
It is believed wind blew an outdoor fire, which managed to catch the sides of a storage warehouse at the back of the site.
A fire officer at the scene said: “It would appear that burning rubbish was caught by a back wind and ended up catching a nearby commercial building.
“The side of the building has blistered in the heat. Our focus was to make sure that didn’t catch and the fire spread to the rest of the building.”
Emergency services were called to the Eastern Country Foods factory in Smeeth Road at around 5.30pm yesterday to reports of the fire.
Dark smoke from the blaze was pictured blowing across the carriageway of the A47 near the Pullover Roundabout close to King’s Lynn.
Firefighters from West Walton, King’s Lynn, Downham Market and Wisbech were called to tackle the fire.
Eastern Country Foods manufactures and distributes sauces and condiments from its Fenland site.
