Hundreds of people lined the streets of Wisbech yesterday to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Members of the scouts, guides, girls’ adventure corps and cadets laid wreaths, as well as Richard Barnwell, deputy lord lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.
Attending the service and parade for her tenth year as a Wisbech Town Councillor, Virginia Bucknor said: “Wisbech should be pleased We’ve sometimes not done as well as we could but this year was very good.
“It was super; there was a good turnout of Wisbech residents and it was well organised by the Royal British Legion.
“The new priest, canon Matthew Bradbury, did Wisbech proud with his service, and the collection for the Poppy Appeal this year has been magnificent. I think it’s going to be quite a phenomenal amount.”
Wreath layers on Remembrance Sunday included Sue Marshall, representing the North East Cambridgeshire Labour Party; Paul Clapp, representing Cambridgeshire County Council and Carol Cox, representing Fenland District Council.
