Children at Leverington Primary Academy talked to 36 drivers in under 90 minutes who exceeded the 30mph speed limit near to their school yesterday.
They asked questions like: ‘do you know the speed limit by the school?’, ‘are you local to the area?’, ‘do you use this road every day?’ and ‘have you thought about the consequences of driving too fast near to a school?’
Wisbech Rural Community Officers PCSO Helen Norton smith and PCSO Sue Clarke said: “In under 90 minutes 36 drivers were spoken to and it proved so impactful that more than one driver said ‘I would rather have been given a ticket as I just felt so bad when the children asked me the questions’.
“Early indications are that everyone thought it had been a really good idea, a very worthwhile exercise and we will be taking the idea to other villages in the new year.”
