A former director of Wisbech Town Football Club has been honoured for his goal-scoring exploits at Porstmouth.
Colin Garwood was induced into Pompey’s Hall of Fame on Friday for notching 34 goals in 71 games at the club from 1978 to 1980.
Garwood, who had previously had spells at Peterborough United and Colchester United, won the golden boot in both his seasons at Fratton Park, earning him cult hero status.
He then made the switch to Aldershot for a then-club record fee of £54,000, before moving to Boston United. He later took up a director’s role at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium.
Colin returned to Fratton Park to mark the honour last week, enjoying a three-course dinner alongside former England star Paul Merson, who was also indicted into the Hall of Fame, and over 250 guests.
He said: “I got the call about two or three months ago that they wanted to put me in their Hall of Fame.
“It’s a great honour. I loved my time there and the night was really well done.”
