A Wisbech couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a trip down memory lane whilst raising £1,000 for two charities.
Ian and Evelyn Duffy enjoyed a nostalgic evening with friends as they celebrated 50 years of marriage in the hotel where they first met.
The couple sent out invites requesting “no presents please” for the occasion, instead raising the £500 each for two charities close to their hearts: Arthur Rank and SADS U.K.
The evening took place in the Trumpet Hall of the Rose & Crown Hotel, where the couple first met in 1965, when Ian spotted Evelyn from the stage whilst playing guitar with then well-known group “Danny Ford & the Offbeats”.
Their daughter Michelle Knight is the matron and clinical nurse specialist who runs the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre, an Arthur Rank Hospice service caring for those living with a life-limiting illness in Wisbech and the Fenland area.
