The stigma of having a stoma bag will be lifted during an exhibition organised by specialist nurses from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
Stoma Care Sisters nurses Gill Skipper and Melanie Claxton have put together an open day on September 8, in The Great Barn at The Knights Hill Hotel.
Along with highlighting the latest Stoma Care products to make the lives of patients easier, the event will also include a stand by the hospital’s Colorectal nurses along with a cake form of the Bristol Stool Chart.
The hospital is working with more than 1,000 patients who have had stoma bags fitted due to a range of conditions.
Mel said: “There is a lot of stigma surrounding Stoma Bags and we are hoping to dispel this during our Open Day.
“We are hoping to raise awareness along with highlighting some of the new products which are currently on the market.
“We see a wide range of patients ranging from premature babies to people in their 90s.”
