Ghastly ghosts, spooky skeletons, mad mummies and weird werewolves took over two Fenland schools and raised nearly £300 for charity this week.
Jane Murray, of the schools, said: “Classrooms and corridors were alive with wailing sounds, bloodcurdling howls and dastardly goings-on, and at the end of the day, an eerie silence draped over both schools as the nightmarish characters disappeared for a night of terrifying trick or treating.”
Mrs Anne Senior, executive head teacher, said: “As church schools we recognise the importance of All Souls Day and All Saints Day, and the importance they play in the Christian calendar.
“However, we would be foolish to ignore the obvious excitement and involvement of our children in the more commercial Halloween festivities.
“So we decided to use the opportunity to raise money for our current charity – and I actually had a lot of fun dressing up as a witch.”
