A Wisbech firm has reduced its energy consumption by 75 per cent thanks to a grant of £1,324.

Pike Textiles was able to install LED lighting after they applied for a grant from Business Energy Efficiency (BEE).

The funding success for the company, which produces handcrafted pattern books for the textile industry, followed a visit from one of the BEE’s energy advisors.

The grant has enabled Pike Textiles to replace the existing fluorescent lighting with more efficient LED lights, which will cut energy consumption by 75 per cent.

Jon Allen, managing director at Pike Textiles, said: “I am delighted with improvements that have been made to our lighting system following the consultation.

“It has significantly improved the work environment for our staff, where the ability to be able to read small text in a consistent light is very important.

“As a result of these changes I expect to see improvements in quality and productivity’’.
