DRUNKEN hostel resident Martin Hirst smashed a window with a hammer after a door was shut in his face.
He had turned up at the door of another resident at The Staithe, Wisbech, in the early hours of the morning and demanded a cigarette.
After being given a roll-up, the door was closed, and Hirst hammered on a window, causing £50 worth of damage.
At Fenland Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Hirst, 22, of The Staithe, Holmes Drive, Wisbech, admitted causing £50 worth of damage.
He told police he had drunk 10 beers, a small bottle of vodka and half a bottle of Martini before the incident, said prosecutor Craig McDougall.
Hirst was given a 40-hour community work order and told to pay £50 compensation.
