A CAR valeting business in Wisbech is to be closed down by Fenland planners after it was found to be operating without permission.

Fenland District Council planning committee will be asked next Wednesday to confirm an enforcement notice against owners of the business at 6-7 Love Lane.

Alan Millard, planning enforcement officer, says the car wash is based in a covered garage area between 6 and 7 Love Lane, and these are terraced homes within the Wisbech conservation area.

Council officers discovered in February the business was operating illegally and in July two planning applications - the other for signage - were refused.

Although the council says the owners had said they planned to appeal, there had been no notification of their action, and it wants the car wash closed down.

"It would appear the owner/occupier has no intention of complying with the council's request to remove the sign or cease the unauthorised use," says Mr Millard.

Planners decided the car valeting business was inappropriately located "due to its potential for noise and disturbance" to nearby residents.
