ALMOST £10,000 worth of property was stolen during a break-in at a garage in Gorefield.

The garage of a house was broken into between midnight and 9.30am on June 9. Thieves made off property including a Van Nicholas pedal cycle, which had been specially made for the London to Paris cycle race.

A Dawes Super Galaxy road bicycle and a Raleigh mountain bike were also taken, along with a cycle tool kit, cycle clothing, helmets, computers, cycle pumps, two sets of golf clubs and equipment and a pressure washer.

A Westwood ride on lawnmower and a Blue Line box trailer were also stolen. Thieves also damaged a BMW car, broke two parasols and damaged the main garage doors and a side door.

PC Mark Yendley, who is investigating the burglary, said: "I would appeal to anyone in the Gorefield area who saw any suspicious activity or behaviour on the night of June 9 to get in touch with me.

"This family have had some irreplaceable property stolen - the Van Nicholas cycle is one of only two in the country and had been made in order for the owner to complete a cycle race. I would urge anyone who has been offered this bike, or any of the property described, to contact police.

"I would also ask anyone who has seen this equipment for sale to contact me. Any information, no matter how trivial it seems, could help our inquiries into this break-in."

Anyone with information should contact PC Yendley at Wisbech Police Station on 0845 456 456 4 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
