A SITE described as a "disused area of light industrial wasteland" and extending to 1.67 acres, has been refused planning consent for 31 homes.
Fenland planners say the proposals for land south east of 88-90 Railway Road, Wisbech, do not provide adequate parking, and would be detrimental to highway safety.
"HGV access along Railway Road could be in danger of increasing to around 20-30 movements a day if the site was maximised for industrial purposes," said HG Construction which submitted the plans.
The company says an industrial unit at the centre of the site, and once used by EDF Energy, had ceased to be operational and is set for removal "preparing the area for redevelopment".
