SAFER Internet Day may have fallen in half term, but that didn't stop one primary school from logging on and learning how to stay safe online.
Children from West Walton Primary School worked with police officers and internet safety experts last Tuesday to tackle cyber bullying at the fictional Huntingbridge High School.
In an online session, pupils assumed the role of Anti Bullying Club helpers, learning about the importance of keeping personal information private and how to cope with cyber bullying.
The day was sponsored by E2BN, the Government-funded supplier of broadband internet, learning resources and services to schools in the East of England.
Chris Kastel, from E2BN, said: "The internet is a wonderful resource for learning and social interaction but ensuring that our children are aware of the potential dangers when using these tools must come first."
Police officer David Glover, who assisted in the session, said: "We encouraged children to think about what was happening to our fictional character, 11-year-old Ellie, and give advice about how she should deal with online bullying.
"It was a hands-on, non-patronising way of learning about internet safety.
