A MORRIS Minor van used more than 50 years ago by the Post Office in Wisbech is expected to fetch as much as £8,000 at auction next week.

The van, registered in 1961, comes complete with records showing that it was first used in the Wisbech area.

It goes under the hammer on Saturday January 26 at Anglia Car Auctions, King’s Lynn, at 1pm.

Lyn George, of Anglia Car Auctions, said: “A lovely example of recent local history is being offered at Anglia Car Auctions.

“The 1961 Morris comes with records showing that it was first used by the Post Office in the Wisbech area.

“Completely restored some years ago, it retains its original Wisbech livery and maintenance logs from the local depot. It has been part of a major Essex based collection for some years.

“Estimate is £6,000-8,000.”

The van is one of about 100 vehicles going under the hammer on January 26.

In 2011 and 2012 Anglia Car Auctions sold the second highest percentage of all classic cars at auction in the UK. Its auctions offer a wide range of vehicles, from the 1920s through to the 80s/90s, with vehicles selling from a few pounds to £100,000.

Gates open at 10am.
