THERE have been ill-tempered scenes around the country tonight with hundreds of voters queuing for hours and then being told that they can not vote when the polling stations closed at 10pm.
Polling stations affected include Milton Keynes, parts of the London boroughs of Hackney, Peckham and Lewisham, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle.
Police were reportedly called to disturbances in Islington South after voters began demanding the right to vote, while in Lewisham, police attended a polling station after around 300 people were unable to vote by the 10pm deadline.
The Electoral Commission said this was a matter of serious concern and promised a full review.
