Friends, family and neighbours of a Fenland nursing home resident joined together to celebrate Ruby Helstead's 100th birthday.

Mrs Helstead, a resident at Strathmore House, Friday Bridge, enjoyed a buffet at the home on Tuesday.

Born in Lincolnshire, Mrs Helstead married Elliott in 1930. He died some years ago. They had two sons, Brian and Derek.

Mrs Helstead and her husband ran their own cereal farm throughout their working lives in Lincolnshire, before she moved to Fenland. She has been a Strathmore House resident for about three years and is pictured with family and friends during Tuesday's celebrations.
