I am writing to you on behalf of the Norfolk Street Traders in Wisbech.

We currently have a new website under construction and have allowed a section in it for old photos, stories and memories of days gone by.

With the years going by so fast, and people coming and going, we really need to capture these things before they are lost.

My parents have been in business in the street for 26 years and my family having worked at various establishments in the street over the past 100 years.

I have wanted to trace the history of the street for as long as I can remember and now seems the time to get the ball rolling.

What I am looking for is any photos, memorabilia or stories people have of the street from the mid 1800's.

A lot of people have moved away if only a few miles down the road and although we see lots of old faces in the street we have lost contact with a lot of people.

It would be lovely to hear from them

I'm not asking for people to give away their precious photos, but am willing to arrange copies of them or they could be forwarded to me by email.

It would also be lovely to hear from any past employees who no doubt have lots of stories of their time spent in the street with their employers and customers.

I'm sure without a doubt they have stories to tell of the street's various characters as well.

With lots of gaps to fill in, every little bit of information will help get a full picture of the history and then it can be recorded and kept for future generations.

I really do hope that your readers can help get these memories all put together and in a few months can look at the web site with their stories and memories on it.
