WISBECH Rotarians have raised more than 2,000 for young people in Darfur who face “unimaginable hardship”.

The group nominated the charity Kids for Kids as one of the beneficaries of its fundraising activities in 2011.

Founder Patricia Parker MBE visited Rotary Club on Tuesday (January 31) to receive the cheque and told the assembled audience: “We don’t believe in charity, we believe in enabling people to help themselves.”

The cash will be used to help children survive ongoing poverty and poor living conditions.

“President Tony Purdy thanked Patricia for making time in her very busy schedule to come to Wisbech and congratulated her on the work she had done and the lives she had saved,” Ken Green from the Rotary Club said.
