TWO students from Wisbech Grammar School competed at the regional round of the National Rotary Young Musician Competition.

Wisbech Rotary Club put Grace Crackle and Melody Cheung forward for the event at Colchester High School for Girls. Grace, a singer, was accompanied on piano by Melody and Thomas Clarkson Community College’s head of music, Neil Keer.

Each act at the event performed for up to eight minutes in front of an audience and three judges who praised the high standard of every performance. The pair didn’t progress and the judges expressed their regret that only one vocalist and instrumentalist could be put through to the national final in Bedford.

The Rotary Club thanked Kier Eastern and Elgood’s Brewery for their support and sponsorship to enable both to enter the competition at the regional stage.
