THE UK has the biggest offshore wind capacity in the world relative to its size, with 40 per cent of the total available wind power resources in Europe.
The UK has theoretically enough to meet its electricity needs many times over.
There is a huge opportunity to develop offshore wind energy, which it is estimated could create 70,000 jobs in the UK.
Yet there are funding problems and regulatory obstacles being placed in the way. So what is holding up the massive investment needed?
The Green Party believes that the Government has not been truly behind wind power, or renewables in general, because it is backing out-dated and dirty nuclear instead.
