WHITTLESEY: If you don't want Peacocks in March we would welcome it here most definitely
I WOULD like to reply to Betty Pecorini s letter in the Cambs Times dated February 6 concerning Peacocks moving to the outskirts of March. I live in Whittlesey and we would be pleased to have any store in around or any where near Whittlesey, as sooner rat
I WOULD like to reply to Betty Pecorini's letter in the Cambs Times dated February 6 concerning Peacocks moving to the outskirts of March.
I live in Whittlesey and we would be pleased to have any store in around or any where near Whittlesey, as sooner rather than later we will become a ghost town if Fenland District Council doesn't do something to encourage businesses here.
I moved here in the early 60's and at that time there was a cinema, roller skating rink, dance halls, a thriving market and a good variety of shops.
People came from all over to shop here but not any more.
March and Wisbech have everything and we are the poor relation.
Not everyone has the wish or means to travel further afield to shop so if March doesn't want Peacocks we will gratefully have them here.

And I whole heartedly agree with Alan Hobbs regarding the dangers of the North Bank Road.
Building another carriageway is the only answer, we have more and more houses being built, but no decent road to alleviate the traffic problems, plus when the Wash floods it is an absolute nightmare getting into Peterborough and back.
Surely something has to be done quickly to save future lives being lost on this road.
