I READ with interest the avalanche of letters in the Wisbech Standard on the subject of Cambridgeshire Constabulary not having the necessary funds to deal with the massive increase of foreigners.
While the vast majority of correspondents are clearly correct in backing Chief Constable Julie Spence I have to point out that any force that can spend a total of £500,000 on 21 Volvo XC70 estate cars as a perk for senior officers to use when on and off duty is hardly short of money.
Quite frankly, Julie Spence should first put her own house in order before going cap in hand to the taxpayer and pleading poverty.
