ARE you aware that this government is planning to suspend forever, the Freedom of Information Act, in respect of increased payments to the royal family in 2010?
The queen's demand for more money will inevitably link her in the public's mind with claims for duck-houses and moat cleaning; and to demand larger secret payments at a time of financial austerity and mass unemployment will put her in the same category as bankers paying themselves unearned bonuses out of public bail-out funds.
Would even a monarchist want this?
