IN reference to the letter in last week's Cambs Times about the lady who was refused alcohol at Tesco's because her son had no ID.

A couple of weeks ago I was waiting at the check out at Tesco's, when a couple at the checkout adjacent me were asked for ID as they wanted to buy a box of lagers.

The lady produced some ID and showed it to the young girl. She then asked the man if he had any ID also. The man said he hadn't, and told the young girl why should he need any as he was only there to carry it for his girlfriend/wife.

The girl on the check out then called for a senior member of staff who basically said "No ID, no alcohol". She then took the box of lagers and put them to one side. The couple were clearly in their mid to late twenties.

So, if anyone is thinking of buying alcohol from Tesco's when they do their shopping, may I suggest the following?

Either do it on your own, or, let the person on the checkout scan your trolley full of shopping, then put any alcohol you have on last.

When all this rubbish about ID starts, say, "Forget it, I'll go to Sainsbury's" and walk out.

If everyone did this I'm sure Tesco's would soon get the message and abolish this ludicrous rule. Power to the People, that's what I say.
