WITH reference to the newly erected turbine on the A605, a colleague of mine said he had spoken to the firm (VESTA) who erected the McCain turbines.

They said they were surprised at its location so close to the main road, as the turbines get a build up of ice on the tips of the blades in cold conditions.

When there is a big build up of ice the blade then throws the ice off ready for it to build up again.

They (VESTA) thought this should never have got planning permission for this reason alone.

The ice could cause potentially lethal road accidents, hitting cars. I think in this case the planning office was very naive or wasn't fully aware of the implication of allowing this to be passed.
