WE recently saw the award of the very first Elizabeth Cross to the widow of WO2 Sean Upton, Royal Artillery. This is a very sad, but very important event in the history of awards to members of the UK armed forces and their families, and it is about time.
WE recently saw the award of the very first Elizabeth Cross to the widow of WO2 Sean Upton, Royal Artillery.
This is a very sad, but very important event in the history of awards to members of the UK armed forces and their families, and it is about time.
However, is it also time to honour the veterans and serving members of the UK armed forces.
Just as Australia has in fact done with the Australian Defence Medal which was instituted in 2006, for all Australian veterans and service personnel who served since the end of WW2 in 1945.
Surely if our Commonwealth and NATO comrades can recognise the service of their soldiers, sailors and airmen, why can't the UK?
That is why the UK National Defence Medal Campaign (UKNDM) needs your support, For further information please visit our website at: http://nationaldefencemedal.webs.com/index.htm
