YOUR correspondent Allan Sibley (Letters 'Keep it local', Wisbech Standard November 14, questions the degree of coverage local newspapers devote to national issues.
Local issues in many cases are determined by national issues and the latter should be covered in any free local press with more of an emphasis of how they might affect the locality.
As Mr Sibley thinks that national issues should be kept to a minimum in local newspapers then presumably he thinks that if the Fenland local economy goes into recession resulting in business failures, home repossessions and rising crime then this shouldn't be reported by journals like yours because their causes stem from wider national economic issues!
