SEVENTY local performers gave their services to entertain a full house for three and a half hours at the Jenner Health Patients Participation Group’s presentation of ‘Just Another Show’ at the Ivy Leaf Club, Whittlesey.
Through admission and raffle ticket sales and donations for programmes the event raised over £1,500.
The money will go into the practice charity account for the purchase of additional items of equipment not otherwise funded, in particular two 24-hour blood pressure monitors and a cholesterol checking kit.
The admission ticket star prize, a condenser tumble drier donated by Indesit/Hotpoint, was won by Bernard Burrill. More than 40 raffle prizes donated by local businesses and supporters were also won when the draw took place during the interval.
Dave Bailey compèred the show which included acts from singer soloists Pat Butcher, Simmi Dee, Graham Moores, Kelly Oliver and Diane Black; and from singer songwriters Dave Bailey and Alice Maciborskyj.
Teenager Hollie performed contemporary dance sequences, Marian Dunham gave readings of her poetry and pupils from Sir Harry Smith Community College staged a comedy drama sketch. The entertainment was finished by two newly formed groups with songs from the ladies’ Singchronicity four-part close harmony acapella choir and some rousing music and a sing-along from the Whittlesey Wind Ensemble.
Practice doctor Adriaan van Biljon concluded the evening by thanking the Ivy Leaf Club for providing an excellent venue without charge; Dee Laws and all the raffle prize donors; the performers, who displayed their talents freely and so superbly; and the wonderfully supportive audience.
Special thanks were given to the organising committee of Dave Bailey, Annette Glazier, Graham Moores and Paul Phillips.
