REVIEW: Dirty Grandpa is offensive to pretty much everyone, with just a handful of laughs

Whether or not you’ll genuinely enjoy Dirty Grandpa depends greatly on your tolerance of penis jokes, offensive humour and cringeworthy scenes.
Zac Efron and Robert De Niro join forces as grandson and grandpa - together they go on a “last ditch redemption road trip” of youthful rediscovery in aid of sex-hungry De Niro who says farewell to his late wife of 40 years.
The predictable story provides only a handful of laugh out loud moments, and about half way into it you’ll be left wondering whether Deniro has just committed career suicide.
In a similar vein to The Inbetweeners series and The Hangover, there’s no shortage of set pieces. But at times its just too much; watching Efron in jail being asked if he wants to be raped (by the man next door with a mental age of seven) following an unfortunate post-drug encounter with a small child on the beach - that’s one of those moments.
And as for De Niro’s randy old man character, by the time you leave the cinema you’ll have seen far too much of him ...
